Netscape Basics |
The Netscape Navigator browser features an intuitive user interface. On top is a primary menu row, followed by a second row of common navigation and utility buttons, and finally the "Bookmarks" button and URL web address bar.
On the bottom, from left to right, are the secure/unsecure "Padlock" icon, the "Online" icon, the current page download status, and the quick link icons to Navigator, E-Mail, Newsgroups, Address Book and Netscape Composer.
Here's a closer view of the top menu navigation button and what they do.

Bookmarks
Netscape Navigator uses the term "Bookmarks" to describe where your favorite web sites are stored. If you find a web page you really like, simple click on the "Bookmarks" button, select "Add Bookmark", and Navigator will add it to the list.
Netscape E-Mail
One of Netscape Navigator's best additional features is the built-in E-Mail program, accessible under the "Communicator" button, or by selecting the "Inbox" button, located in the bottom right hand corner of the browser window.
Preferences
Even before you add any yourself, Netscape already has placed bookmarks in your list. You may remove them by clicking "Bookmarks" and selecting "Edit Bookmarks". A new window will open, then select the web page you want to remove and click the "Edit" button. Now select "Delete" from the drop down menu. The web page is removed from your list.
Netscape Navigator gives you the ability to customize many of the browser's features. Click the "Edit" button, then select "Preferences" from the drop down menu.
The Netscape Navigator "Preferences" window will open, with the "Navigator" category open by default.
In the "Navigator" category, you can change the page Navigator starts on or change your home page.
You will probably find it easiest to learn the different "Preferences" settings by clicking on each of the categories, as well as the "+" sign next to the main categories. The "Mail & Newsgroups" category has a number of settings to play with.
